MW.FEP elevates quality management with certifications seamlessly integrated through SoftExpert
Automation delivers real results: saving 160 hours per month and generating up to a 20% return on investment
Why modernization became essential
MW.FEP works directly with customers in highly regulated industries such as aerospace, defense, automotive, medical devices, and rail. In these fields, quality and compliance aren’t just expectations, they’re the foundation for safety, long-term contracts, reputation, and even the right to operate. In this environment, flawless process control is a must.
As the company’s certification requirements expanded, traditional tools, like spreadsheets and disconnected documents, couldn’t keep up. Risks like inconsistent documentation, versioning issues, and a lack of traceability became increasingly unacceptable. MW.FEP needed a scalable, integrated system that could support growth, maintain compliance, and unify processes under one roof.
That’s where SoftExpert came in. MW.FEP launched an in-depth search for an Integrated Quality Management System (IQMS), focusing on all-in-one platforms with flexible functionality, and critically, Italian-language support to ensure team adoption.
“The Italian interface was a major factor. While most global platforms didn’t offer it, SoftExpert did. That eliminated a key adoption barrier,” Giulio Massarutto, Quality & Compliance Director
According to Giulio, SoftExpert stood out for its modular design, strong version control, reliable tech support, and competitive pricing, striking the ideal balance between features and ease of implementation.
A management transformation that creates value for customers, partners, and suppliers
The implementation of SoftExpert at MW.FEP led to a shift in quality management and operational processes. The automation delivered immediate results, including an estimated savings of up to 160 work hours per month. By reducing unnecessary tasks, increasing operational control, and minimizing errors, the company achieved a 20% return on investment, driven by cost reduction and improved efficiency. These gains are visible across multiple operational areas, as outlined below.
Security and document management
MW.FEP has significantly improved information security through controlled access, easy retrieval, and full traceability of documents thanks to an organized system with customized permissions. Easier access to operational documents has led to a notable reduction in errors caused by outdated information and increased engagement from operators across all production departments.
The system’s reliability builds greater trust both internally and in interactions with clients and external auditors. As the Quality Director points out:
“Managing document control through a system rather than scattered PDFs or Word files in typical server folders shows real reliability. With SoftExpert, we can confidently demonstrate that the system is solid, well-managed, and that everyone always accesses the correct version.”
Compliance and audits
The company has seen a significant reduction in audit times, standardized processes, improved compliance, and automatic evidence generation through the systematization of various audit types.
A particularly important achievement has been the ability to manage multiple certification standards in an integrated way. MW.FEP emphasizes that, with five quality standards and three to four supporting standards, handling this without a tool like SoftExpert Suite would be unthinkable.
SoftExpert helps MW.FEP acquire and maintain a strong portfolio of certifications in quality, safety, and compliance, including:
• ISO 9001 – Quality Management System
• EN 9100 – Aerospace and Defense Certification
• IATF 16949 – Automotive Industry Certification
• ISO 13485 – Medical Device Requirements
• ISO 22163 (IRIS) – Railway Sector Certification
• Nadcap – Accreditation for Electronic Processes
• ISO 45001 – Occupational Health and Safety Management
• ISO 14001 – Environmental Management
• ISO/IEC 27001 – Information Security
Performance and supplier management
Implementing the solution enabled monitoring and communication of key indicators, focusing on results and performance by managing KPIs for over 900 suppliers. The goal is to optimize business relationships and improve the quality of services provided.
Adopting the SoftExpert platform also enhanced the visualization of internal performance indicators. The Performance module is already delivering positive results in tracking metrics, making it easier to make data-driven decisions.
Risk management and compliance
MW.FEP established a single, centralized repository for risk management, eliminating inconsistencies caused by “everyone having their own version.” This consolidation has improved consistency in identifying and addressing risks and made it easier to share priorities across different departments.
The company has reported:
• Greater transparency and organizational integrity through requirements mapping;
• Early problem detection and increased organizational resilience;
• Support for proactive decision-making in risk management.
Without these resources, we would risk reputational damage, potential data loss, and increased time and effort to handle tasks that the system now streamlines,” Giulio emphasizes
Information centralization and dashboards
Implementing SoftExpert dashboards has drastically simplified access to critical information. According to the Quality Director, searching for documents via the portal is “at least 10 times easier” compared to the traditional module.
Centralizing data, easy access to strategic information, and faster management led to the creation of around 70 portals for operational data control. This information infrastructure allows quick access to critical data and has sped up decision-making at every level of the organization.
Strategic impact
One of the most strategic outcomes has been MW.FEP’s increased credibility with its clients. Demonstrating a robust quality management system has become a significant competitive advantage:
“Showing a client, no matter the industry, that our organization can meet their requirements and minimize risks in business processes while ensuring product or service quality is definitely one of SoftExpert Suite’s biggest benefits,” Giulio highlights.
Next Steps: expanding and optimizing integrated management
MW.FEP plans to expand and enhance its use of the platform, focusing on evolving the Performance module to share key indicators with customers and partners. The company also intends to ramp up mobile tool usage, especially for audit activities, to boost field efficiency, while increasing system access to more team members, fostering a widespread quality culture.
Additionally, MW.FEP aims to extend the platform’s use into new areas, leveraging its modularity and scalability to support sustainable growth.
